
First Day of School Reminders - Monday August 3, 2026
Aloha Hilo Union School Families,
We hope you and your ʻohana are enjoying these final days of summer vacation! As we get closer to the start of the new school year, we want to share a few friendly reminders and important details to help your family prepare.
👩🏫 Class Assignments
Our wonderful office team has called all of our families to notify you of your child’s teacher for the upcoming year. Information packets have also been mailed home.
📞 Haven't heard who your child's teacher is yet? Please give our school office a call at (808) 933-0900 so we can assist you!
🚗 Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures
Gate & Entry: All students will enter through our Kapiolani Street gate, which opens every morning at 7:15 AM.
Traffic Flow: Please note that Kapiolani Street becomes one-way going in the Puna direction during morning drop-off.
Walking Students: If you plan to park and walk your child to the gate, please park in the St. Joseph Church parking lot.
Dismissal Times:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: Dismissal is at 2:15 PM.
Wednesday (Early Release): Dismissal is at 12:35 PM.
✏️ School Supplies
To keep things simple for our families, we are just asking each student to bring the following cleaning and hygiene items:
1 bottle of liquid hand soap
1 bottle of hand sanitizer
1 container of disinfecting wipes (any brand)
🍱 Meals, Uniforms & Transportation
Free Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be free for all students every day!
School Uniforms: Uniform shirts are available for purchase for $10.00 each at Creative Arts Hawaii (500 Kalanianaole Avenue).
School Bus: Bus applications for the 2026–2027 school year are available to pick up at the school office.
📝 New Student & Kindergarten Registration
If you have a new student or incoming Kindergartener who still needs to enroll for the 2026–2027 school year, please visit our school office to complete registration as soon as possible so we can get them placed in a class.
We are so excited to welcome our students back to campus on Monday, August 3rd! Have a wonderful rest of your summer!
