Aloha Hilo Union School สปOhana! It's almost time for the first day of school! ๐Ÿซโœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š We're so excited to welcome our Rainbows back tomorrow, Monday, August 3, 2026.

Here are the important details for drop-off and pick-up:

Drop off: Kapiolani gate at 7:15 am

Pick up: Kapiolani gate at 2:15 pm

Wednesday pick up: 12:35 pm

Aloha Hilo Union School Families,

We hope you and your สปohana are enjoying these final days of summer vacation! As we get closer to the start of the new school year, we want to share a few friendly reminders and important details to help your family prepare.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ Class Assignments
Our wonderful office team has called all of our families to notify you of your childโ€™s teacher for the upcoming year. Information packets have also been mailed home.

๐Ÿ“ž Haven't heard who your child's teacher is yet? Please give our school office a call at (808) 933-0900 so we can assist you!

๐Ÿš— Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures
Gate & Entry: All students will enter through our Kapiolani Street gate, which opens every morning at 7:15 AM.

Traffic Flow: Please note that Kapiolani Street becomes one-way going in the Puna direction during morning drop-off.

Walking Students: If you plan to park and walk your child to the gate, please park in the St. Joseph Church parking lot.

Dismissal Times:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: Dismissal is at 2:15 PM.
Wednesday (Early Release): Dismissal is at 12:35 PM.

โœ๏ธ School Supplies
To keep things simple for our families, we are just asking each student to bring the following cleaning and hygiene items:

1 bottle of liquid hand soap
1 bottle of hand sanitizer
1 container of disinfecting wipes (any brand)

๐Ÿฑ Meals, Uniforms & Transportation
Free Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be free for all students every day!

School Uniforms: Uniform shirts are available for purchase for $10.00 each at Creative Arts Hawaii (500 Kalanianaole Avenue).

School Bus: Bus applications for the 2026โ€“2027 school year are available to pick up at the school office.

๐Ÿ“ New Student & Kindergarten Registration
If you have a new student or incoming Kindergartener who still needs to enroll for the 2026โ€“2027 school year, please visit our school office to complete registration as soon as possible so we can get them placed in a class.

We are so excited to welcome our students back to campus on Monday, August 3rd! Have a wonderful rest of your summer!

We hope you and your ohana are enjoying a wonderful, safe, and relaxing summer break! As we get further into July, we want to share some important dates and information to help you start preparing for the upcoming 2026โ€“2027 school year.

Monday, August 3, 2026: First Day of School! We can't wait to welcome back our students in Grades 1โ€“6 for a brand-new year of learning and growth.

Friday, August 21, 2026: Statehood Day Holiday - No School

๐ŸšŒ SY 2026โ€“2027 Bus Application Periods
If your child will be riding the school bus this year, please take note of the application windows for each quarter. Applications must be submitted within these specific timeframes:

Quarter Application Window
Quarter 1 July 13, 2026 โ€“ August 7, 2026
Quarter 2 September 14, 2026 โ€“ October 12, 2026
Quarter 3 December 7, 2026 โ€“ January 8, 2027
Quarter 4 February 22, 2027 โ€“ March 22, 2027

โš ๏ธ Reminder: Please be sure to apply during the Quarter 1 window starting next Monday, July 13th, to ensure your child has bus transportation secured for the start of the school year.
